There’s a reason why DJ Dan is considered one of our hardest working and most beloved djs. Since the late eighties he’s worked tirelessly to make sure that the left coast is not left out of the global house equation. From his early rave days to the birth of his legendary Funky Tekno Tribe, Dan was a pioneer the seminal fusion of house, breakbeat and techno now know as the “West Coast House Sound”. His dj skills and solo productions (“Loose Caboose”, ‘That Zipper Track” and “That Phone Track”) lead to world tours with Carl Cox, Area 2 with Moby, every premiere club a dj can play and remixes for a vast array of artists; Depeche Mode, A Tribe Called Quest, The Pussycat Dolls and Orgy among them. Dan’s debut artist LP Future Retro out in early 2010, is a celebration of his history with sonically rejuvenated recreations of songs that have influenced him and fresh new originals. The first release is a double threat of Chicago style house that sounds like it was filtered through Daft Punk’s sound board and Dan’s signature west coast techno-funk with remixes by Santiago & Bushido and Zodiac Cartel.
