“When you work with music, you have the possibility to create magic.” Welcome to the darkly compelling world of exquisite mystery that is Fever Ray. Fever Ray is artist and project namely, Karin Dreijer Andersson one of Sweden’s most inventive pop artists – former singer of 90′s pop group Honey Is Cool and one-half of the critically acclaimed brother and sister duo The Knife. She wrote most of the songs on the album in a state of awake exhaustion in the throws of being a new parent, where reality blurs into imagination and ideas flutter in and out. They’re constructed on a stark, moody electronic base by producers Christoffer Berg and duo Van Rivers with a little polishing by The Subliminal Kid. The single “Seven” is a succession of stories, both real and imagined, related to that number. The remixes are a contrasting bunch ranging from BANG in-your-face to soft and subtle by Crookers, CSS, Marcel Dettmann, Martyn, Nic Chacona and Seth Troxler. The video directed by Johan Renck is a pagan treat just in time for Halloween.
Just added is the totally fun Twelves Remix full of Moroder style strings, open high hat and groovy bass – high disco drama.
